Thoughts:
We are there to support the troupe, this is not a vacation. Please do not plan on doing "Orlando vacation" things until the convention is over. Students are expected to be at all troupe performances and attend the workshops during the day. Thursday evening, the entire troupe goes to Dave and Busters to enjoy some bonding time, eat and play games. Friday evening there will be 1-2 mainstage shows that will be put on by another school. These shows never disappoint and are a great way for students to see shows that they never have a chance to see. I highly encourage students to attend these FREE shows but I do require it.
Hotel opinions-
Rosen at Pointe Orlando- I have stayed there 2 times and never had a problem. It is a budget hotel that is close to the convention center (5-10 minute walk. When you check in, ask to be as close to the convention center as possible).
Rosen Plaza- I have stayed here and although more expensive.... it is attached to the convention center by an over the road walkway. It is a nicer hotel with walking to the convention center taking maybe 2 minutes. This is where I will be staying this year.
Other hotels in the area- feel free to stay anywhere you want. Depending on when our group starts events on Friday and Saturday, you may need to be at the convention center at 8am. Parking at the convention center is usually around $20 a day so staying somewhere within walking distance is a perk and who wants to drive in Orlando anyway!!
